Understanding Usage Tips

  • This page contains the full list of the Usage Tips that are randomly displayed above the schedule grid page.
  • The display of the tips may be permanently enabled/disabled with a check box on the Site Preferences/My Preferences page.
  • Click on the TitanTV Listings link in the top left corner to return to the schedule grid.

TitanTV.com Usage Tips

Tip #1: TitanTV provides you with a schedule for a total of 15 days of programming: the previous day, the current day and the upcoming 13 days.
Tip #2: Options on the Site Preferences page allows you to control many of the "look and feel" aspects of the schedule. These include the grid's starting time, number of hours to display in the grid, time zone, font size, grid color schemes and more.
Tip #3: The Default Grid Time setting on the Site Preferences/My Preferences tab allows you to specify the grid's starting hour: Current time, Prime time, or the top of any other hour.
Tip #4: By default, the Schedule page displays three hours of programming. You may specify a different default between 1 and 6 hours with the Default Grid Duration option on the Site Preferences/My Preferences tab.
Tip #5: The Grid Font Size setting on the Site Preferences/My Preferences tab allows you to change the size of the font used on the Schedule page.
Tip #6: The options in the Programming Grid Fields section of the Site Preferences/My Preferences tab allow you to control how much information about each program to display on the Schedule page.
Tip #7: The Show Channel Logos option on the Site Preferences/My Preferences tab allows you to display a channel's station/network logo in the grid's Channel column or in plain text.
Tip #8: Clicking on a channel's logo or call sign opens the Daily View page that contains only that channel's schedule. The page allows you to toggle between viewing the channel's 24-hour schedule for the next 3 days or displaying 3 hour blocks of its schedule for each of the next 14 days.
Tip #9: A setting in the Daily View Grid section Site Preferences/My Preferences tab allow you to specify whether the Daily View opens to display 3 or 14 days of programming by default.
Tip #10: To view the previous day's schedule, select it from the date drop down box above the grid or by clicking the left arrow beside the date in the Call Sign column. You can easily return to the schedule for the current day and time by click the Clock icon above the grid.
Tip #11: With a PVR (Personal Video Recorder) installed, programs may be recorded to your computer's hard drive with just a single click.
Tip #12: The Advanced Menu under the MORE button above the grid expands to allow you to temporarily filter the grid to only display movies, HDTV programs, your Favorite programs or a specific genre in the grid.
Tip #13: Channel lineups may be customized to hide unwanted channels, add new channels, and change the channels' display order. Click the Manage Lineups icon above the grid then click Edit Channels in the desired lineup.
Tip #14: Custom channel lineups may be created containing only your movie channels, sports channels, news channels, educational/children's programming channels, and more. Your imagination is the only limit.
Tip #15: If you frequently travel between locations, you may create separate lineups for each location for easy recall.
Tip #16: Up to 500 programs (for registered TitanTV members, 200 for non-registered) may be selected as Favorites. When a Favorite appears in the Schedule grid, it is indicated with a star in its cell.
Tip #17: Favorite programs may be selected by clicking on the Favorites icon in that program's Details box. Click the icon again to de-select that program as a favorite.
Tip #18: The Favorites function allows you to view a list of your favorite programs and when they are scheduled to air by clicking on the Favorite Shows & Movies link at the top of the page.
Tip #19: The Favorite Shows & Movies page allows you to view the upcoming airings of the programs you have selected as Favorites.
Tip #20: Clicking the Calendar icon in a program’s Details box exports an entry about that program to your email client’s Calendar application. In the Calendar application, you may choose to have it open a reminder about the program a few minutes before its air time.
Tip #21: The Search function supports many of the same advanced Operators used by Google and other search engines for building complex search arguments.
Tip #22: Complex or frequently used search arguments may be saved for easy recall and reuse.
Tip #23: Click on a program's cell to open its Details box to view its description and credits info. Move the mouse off the Details box to automatically close it.
Tip #24: Click on a station's call sign in the leftmost column to view a page containing only that channel's schedule for the next three days.
Tip #25: Arrows in the leftmost column allow you to go forward and back through the schedule by 24 hours at a time. Click the date to return the grid to today's schedule.
Tip #26: The left and right arrows beside the time headers between every 10th channel allow you to go forward or back through the schedule with each click.
Tip #27: Grid color schemes are provided that contain pre-defined color coding of programs according to genre (Comedy, Drama, News, etc.).
Tip #28: A legend at the bottom of the Schedule provides a sample of every color-coded genre and its name.
Tip #29: In addition to the pre-defined grid schemes, TitanTV members may create and maintain custom color schemes using their choice of genre color combinations. The editor is located on the Site Preferences/My Grid Colors tab.
Tip #30: The Print function sends a printer-friendly version of the Schedule grid to your printer.
Tip #31: You may change a channel lineup's default name by clicking the Edit Information button on the Site Preferences page/My Channel Lineups tab.
Tip #32: Creating a Free TitanTV membership allows you to access the customized lineups in your account on any computer anywhere, as well as on handheld devices.
Tip #33: Each program's Details box contains icons for creating reminder and Calendar entries, selecting it as a Favorite, and controlling PVR (Personal Video Recorder) functions. Click a program's cell in the grid to access its Details box.
Tip #34: The View Additional Airings link in a program's Details box allows you to discover the upcoming airings of that program within the next two weeks.
Tip #35: If you are a TitanTV member, you may change the email address associated with your account at any time by going to the Site Preferences/My Login/Email tab.
Tip #36: If you are a TitanTV member, you can change your password at any time on the Site Preferences/My Password tab. You must know your old password to change it to a new one.
Tip #37: TitanTV stores information about your account in a "cookie" file on your computer. If no cookie is present, each visit to TitanTV is treated as if it was your first.
Tip #38: If no cookie is present when you visit TitanTV, your location is determined by the ZIP Code of your internet service provider and the channel lineup most frequently used by other TitanTV members in that area is displayed by default. If no member data is available, TitanTV then displays a New York lineup by default.
Tip #39: Customized channel lineups may be shared between TitanTV members.

Tip #41: If you are a TitanTV member, your User Identity is stored in a "cookie" file on your computer. If you have to re-enter your login information whenever you access TitanTV, your cookie file is being deleted from your computer between visits to TitanTV.
Tip #42: The display of these Usage Tips is controlled by the TitanTV Hints checkbox on the Site Preferences/My Preferences tab.
Tip #43: All of the available Usage Tips may be displayed in a single view by clicking on the Usage Tips links at the bottom of the page.
